Measuring for natural flooring  

Simply imagine that you are hovering in mid air above the room in question.....


Sketch the room in plan.

 

Mark the doors, windows and other features.

Measure each wall and put the size against that wall on your plan.
Repeat for all the rest; for walls that include a doorway remember to allow the tape to go to the far side of the doorway.
Finally check that if you add up all the individual lengths of the wall they equal taking the tape from one end to the other.

Similarly staircases and landings are very little different.

 

Take the widest point across the stair and also the longest line at right angles to it. Do this for each winding stair.

 

Landings are simply treated as though they were very large steps.
